Forza Horizon 5 is a critically acclaimed open-world racing game, and developer Playground Games and publisher Xbox Game Studios are committed to perpetually adding fresh content to the game through the Festival Playlist. Every week, the playlist introduces players with new events, challenges to complete, and rewards to earn. Occasionally, however, challenges can ramp up the difficulty or be unclear in their descriptions and instructions.

From tricky Daily Challenges to enigmatic Treasure Hunts, this is everything you need to know to complete those Forza Horizon 5 challenges and obtain every exclusive reward in one of the best racing games on Xbox.

How can I complete the Festival Playlist challenges in Forza Horizon 5?

The Forza Horizon 5 Festival Playlist features a rotating selection of possible challenges and events, most of which are fairly straightforward. Every so often, however, FH5’s Festival Playlist will present players with a particularly difficult challenge, either through design, confusing or unclear instructions, or even in-game bugs that prevent the challenge from being completed like normal.

Summer, Series 5 — “Field Trip” Weekly Challenge

This challenge is bugged, preventing completion for many players. Below, we’ve listed workarounds to resolve the issue potentially.

Weekly Challenges in Forza Horizon 5 task players with completing four chapters of separate challenges in a specific car or group of cars. Normally, these challenges don’t take too long and reward a decent number of Playlist and Forzathon Points. In the first Season of Series 5, however, the “Field Trip” Weekly Challenge presents several frustrating challenges to players — not because it’s difficult to complete, but because it’s bugged to prevent progression.

Players are unable to get past even Chapter 1 of Field Trip, which tasks players with owning and driving the 2013 Formula Drift Chevrolet Corvette #777 car. Whether you already owned this car or received it as a reward for completing the East Resort Speed Trap challenge in the same Series, players have been completely unable to finish this first chapter, and therefore have been unable to progress to the remaining three chapters or complete the Weekly Challenge.

While incredibly annoying (especially since challenges have been working more reliably in newer Festival Playlist Series), there does appear to be several potential workarounds.

Buy a brand-new car

A few players reported they were able to complete the challenge by buying a brand-new version of the 2013 Formula Drift Chevrolet Corvette #777 from the Autoshow. Unfortunately, the car is a little pricey at 300,000 Credits, and this workaround did not work for many other players and us.

Restart everything

A workaround with a slightly better track record than the previous one had players complete several steps to restart everything.

  1. In Forza Horizon 5, go into Solo Mode from the “Online” tab of the Pause Menu
  2. Once you’re in Solo Mode, force Forza Horizon 5 to quit by closing it or using the Menu button in the Xbox Guide
  3. Once Forza Horizon 5 has closed, fully restart your Xbox or PC
  4. Once your device is back on, restart Forza Horizon 5 and attempt the challenge again

Once again, this workaround does not appear to be reliable. This solution did not work for other players that attempted and us, but some apparently had luck with it.

Clear reserved space

For Xbox players, this workaround appears to be the most consistent, and is the workaround that worked for us and enabled us to complete the Weekly Challenge. Effectively, this equates to “clearing the cache” for Forza Horizon 5 and restarting the game.

  1. Open the Xbox Guide, find Forza Horizon 5 in your recent games and highlight it, and press the “Menu” button on your Xbox controller to reveal more options
  2. If Forza Horizon 5 is running, select the “Quit” option to force it to quit
  3. After Forza Horizon 5 has closed, open the menu again and select the “Manage game and add-ons” option
  4. On the “Manage game and add-ons” screen, find and select the “Saved data” option
  5. On the “Saved data” screen, find and select the “Reserved space” option (do not touch your saved data)
  6. When prompted, select “Clear reserved space”
  7. Restart Forza Horizon 5 and attempt the challenge again. You may experience a longer initial loading screen

Hopefully, the challenge should work as intended after this workaround. Fortunately, the “Field Trip” Weekly Challenge isn’t too difficult after you get past the annoying bug preventing progression.

The challenges continue

As the Forza Horizon 5 map shifts through the seasons every week, a new batch of challenges appear. If any mission poses a unique challenge to players, we’ll update this section with instructions on how to (if you can) complete it. If there are any challenges you would like us to tackle, sound off in the comments below.
