Every major announcement during Summer Game Fest at E3 2021

Some of the announcements during Summer Game Fest at E3 2021 stood above the rest. Here are the biggest announcements during the event, and all the most important information you need.

Elden Ring

There was a lot of speculation leading up to Summer Game Fest that the near-mythical Elden Ring would make its fateful appearance at the end of the show. Even with these rumors, it was still shocking to see a brand-new Elden Ring gameplay trailer, complete with an actual release date for the latest Souls-like game from From Software and Bandai Namco.

Elden Ring, set in a dark fantasy world co-written by George R.R. Martin is officially releasing on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and PC on Jan. 21, 2022.

Elden Ring…oh, Elden Ring!

Elden Ring is FromSoftware’s next fantasy epic, featuring a focus on open-ended design in a universe created by both FromSoftware president Hidetaka Miyazaki and A Song of Ice and Fire author George R. R. Martin.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is a brand-new game set in the Borderlands universe, and is expected to combine an all-star cast with traditional Borderlands humor and zany action, as well as some more fantasy-like aspects. Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, and PC sometime in 2022.

Death Stranding Director’s Cut

We don’t know a ton about Death Stranding Director’s Cut, only that it’s an expanded version of Hideo Kojima’s latest video game apparently heading to PS5. The teaser trailer includes tons of clues for Death Stranding fans, as well as a not-so-subtle easter egg for Metal Gear fans. We’ll learn more about Death Stranding Director’s Cut relatively soon.

Among Us roadmap

The talented and tiny team at Innersloth made an appearance at Summer Game Fest to reveal the latest Among Us roadmap, which includes some sneak peeks at what’s coming next to the online game that took over the world. Unfortunately there’s no reveal date for Among Us on Xbox, but we do know that Innersloth is making popular unofficial game mode Hide & Seek a real thing in Among Us, new cosmetics and colors are coming, and work has begun on the fifth map for Among Us.

New publisher Prime Matter

Koch Media shook things up during Summer Game Fest at E3 2021 by announcing a new publishing arm, Prime Matter, which will include a winning lineup of games like Payday 3, King’s Bounty 2, and the next Painkiller game, which was also confirmed during the event. There’s a lot coming from Prime Matter, so check out the above trailer and our post for more information.

Back 4 Blood Open Beta

The creators of Left 4 Dead joined Summer Game Fest to show off more Back 4 Blood, their upcoming spiritual revival of the infamous zombie co-op game. Alongside the reveal of a new boss, they also announced that the Back 4 Blood Open Beta begins August 5, 2021, ahead of its official release date on October 12.

Tales of Arise

Summer Games Fest included a new action-packed trailer for Tales of Arise, the latest entry in the JRPG Tales series from Bandai Namco. This newest trailer reveals two new characters and plenty of other tidbits for fans of the series. Tales of Arise launches on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC on September 10, 2021.

Jurassic World Evolution 2

A gorgeous-looking trailer was shown off to reveal Jurassic World Evolution 2, the sequel to dinosaur theme park creator Jurassic World Evolution. We don’t have a ton of information on Jurassic World Evolution 2, but we know that the team is bringing their latest park creator to PC on Steam and Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, and PS4.

The Anacrusis

The Anacrusis looks to be a sci-fi co-op game that reminds us of Prey with its overall aesthetic and alien enemies. What makes The Anacrusis special is that it’s coming to Xbox and PC later this year, and its launching on Xbox Game Pass day one. The Anacrusis will join the growing list of games launching day and date into Microsoft’s industry-shifting subscription service in Fall 2021.
