Hands-on with Samsung’s monstrous 98-inch Neo QLED 8K TV

Samsung unveiled its latest Neo QLED TVs at CES 2023 in Las Vegas, boasting improved Mini-LED technology and insane levels of peak brightness of 4,000 nits, among many other advanced features. The 2023 QN900C Neo QLED TV series comes in a variety of formats, and this year, Samsung added a new size to the lineup, measuring a whopping 98 inches. We were introduced to these Neo QLED TVs on the show floor at CES 2023 in Las Vegas, and we’re sharing our hands-on experience in a new video below.

Hardware specifications and design languages aside, there’s something to be said for the sheer size of Samsung’s new 98-inch Neo QLED TV. It’s a monster-size TV — large enough to stand out even on the CES 2023 show floor — and seeing it in action brings about a sense of awe. The viewing surface is large enough to match a projector, and customers will certainly need a sizeable room to fit this 98-inch smart TV.

The QN900C series comes in four sizes, including 65, 75, and 85 inches, along with the aforementioned 98-inch model. The 65, 75, and 85-inch variants adopt the Infinity Screen design similar to the QN900B series, whereas the 98-inch model follows the Infinite One Design language.

They all have extremely thin bezels, but the 98-inch model also benefits from a metal back construction that improves its structural rigidity — something needed given the sheer size of this TV.

One other differentiating factor between the “smaller” QN900C models and the 98-inch variant is that the latter includes what Samsung calls the 6.4.4 OST Cinematic Plus sound experience.

Samsung’s new QN900C series benefits from a new Neural Quantum Processor 8K that features 64 neural net cores for improved image quality and upscaling. They support 4K and 8K resolutions at 120Hz and 60Hz refresh rates, respectively.
