
Halo Infinite desync and latency fixes are coming soon, says 343i

In a new blog post, 343 Industries’ Lead Sandbox Engineer Richard Watson has provided fans with a detailed technical overview of many of the issues currently affecting online gameplay in Halo Infinite, while also sharing how the developers are planning to solve or mitigate these issues in the near future.
Some of the issues discussed include desync between the server and clients (players), being shot around corners, hit registration issues with both guns and melee attacks, and missing collision and “melee phasing” when engaging enemy players in close-quarters combat. The developers are implementing a fix in the near future that should prevent the instances of permanent desync that many players are experiencing right now, and 343 Industries is also working to reduce latency and improve its player collision systems so that phasing through opponents and “ghost melees” no longer occur. An upcoming update should also reduce moment-to-moment bandwidth usage and ensure that there’s more parity between the player’s actions and what the server sees, improving overall hit registration.
Overall, it’s great to see 343 Industries work on solving Halo Infinite’s desync and latency issues, especially since these problems have often made it difficult to enjoy Halo Infinite’s excellent core gameplay. Only time will tell if the developer’s fixes will be effective, though. We’ll know soon enough once the studio deploys its upcoming February update.

Ahead of a 2022 release, Grounded has already reached 10 million players
Grounded, the unique survival game from Obsidian Entertainment and Xbox Game Studios, has already crossed 10 million players while in early access. The team is continuing to work on new updates and content ahead of Grounded’s official release, now slated for sometime in 2022.
