Following the launch of this weekend’s Halo Infinite beta test, Reddit user u/freebeens has figured out a way to launch offline multiplayer matches against bots with another player locally connected to your Xbox console. This allows you and a friend or family member to enjoy splitscreen multiplayer, which was previously expected to not be accessible at all during the beta tests.

If you want to use the exploit to play splitscreen yourself, check out u/freebeens’ post for the full instructions. It mainly involves pressing some very specific buttons in a very specific order, so as long as you read the instructions carefully you shouldn’t run into any difficulties.

Notably, the glitch can only be performed on Xbox, as splitscreen isn’t accessible on PC. It’s possible that the PC version of Halo Infinite will never have splitscreen support considering the PC version of Halo: MCC never received it, but only time will tell.

The Halo Infinite beta is available for all Xbox players to download and install through the Xbox Insider Hub app right now, though the developers have noted that there’s a player cap on the test (currently unspecified). Therefore, we recommend snagging your Halo Infinite beta download as soon as you can.
