Halo fans organize tournament to raise funds for suffering community member

Halo fans have banded together to organize a Halo 2 2v2 tournament to raise funds for a fellow Halo community member, Rod “NJROD” Lane, following the destruction of his home due to a devastating house fire. The torunament costs $20 for a team to enter, and all of the proceeds from the event will go towards Lane. There’s a maximum team limit of 32, and the tournament will operate under a double elimination bracket system. The winning team of the competition will walk away with $200 of prize money. The tournament is slated to start on March 14, 2020 at 12 PM EST/9 AM PST and will be played online on the Xbox One version of the Master Chief Collection.

Many community members have spoken publicly about how much Lane has helped them and the Halo community at large in the past, citing his history of hosting Halo tournaments in the New York and New Jersey area of the United States. “My man @NJROD has been hosting local tournaments in the tri-state for over a decade,” wrote pro player Anthony “Methodz” Zinni. “His tournaments were a huge part of my come up, as well as a ton of pros still playing today.” Jason “Prophet” Nicoletti also commented on the situation, saying that “NJROD has been the staple of local tournaments in the tri-state area forever. Help Rod out if you can. It’s the least we can do after everything he’s done for us over the years.”

Overall, I think it’s really awesome to see Halo fans working together to organize this event, and I hope that the money that it raises help Lane’s recovery efforts.
