Halo: Combat Evolved PC version begins public tests in January 2020

Halo developer 343 Industries confirmed in a blog post that Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, the remake of the very first Halo game that 343 Industries created in 2011, is the next game in line to come to PC and that test flighting will begin for it in January 2020. We don’t have any information on what the flight will entail, but if it’s anything like the first flight for Halo: Reach, it will probably be focused on the Campaign.

In addition to this, 343 also confirmed that all of the Halo titles coming to PC — Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 4 — would all be fully released by the end of 2020. This shows that the process of porting the games over has sped up considerably, meaning that we won’t need to wait nearly as long as we had to for the Halo: Reach PC port.

If you’d like to participate in the test flighting for Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary and beyond, make sure to sign up for the Halo Insider Program. It’s completely free, and if you’re lucky enough to be selected in flights, you get to play some Halo for free while helping 343 Industries develop the PC port of the game. It’s a win-win!

If you want to jump right into the Halo action, make sure to check out the Halo: Reach port on PC, which is excellent. The Halo community is already hard at work creating incredible mods for it as well, such as one that allows you to play Firefight as Marines and another that lets you spawn AI in Forge mode.
