Google Play Store working on a new app sync feature

If you have multiple Android devices, such as smartphones or tablets, then managing apps on each device can be a frustrating task. Google is now working on a new multi-device app sync feature for the Play Store. Users will be able to keep track of all the installed apps across all of their Android devices.

According to a tweet from AssembleDebug in response to Artem Russakovskii, Google is spotted testing an option to sync apps across all Android devices. However, do note that this feature isn’t available to everyone at this point in time. Using this Play Store app sync feature, users will be able to remotely install apps across their various Android devices.

This feature is similar to how iOS handles app installs by default. It essentially syncs across iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch, and lets the user install their favorite apps across devices. The Google Play Store app sync feature is available inside the Play Store settings as ‘Sync apps to devices’ within the ‘Manage apps and device’ sub-menu. Tapping on this option reveals a list of connected devices that you can select or deselect for app sync.

FYI, the Play Store already lets you install apps from one device to another from the Play Store if they are connected to the same account. While this feature was limited to smartwatches, Android TVs, and tablets, it has now been quietly expanded to smartphones as well. The only drawback of this feature is that it is currently being tested and hasn’t been rolled out to the general public as of now.
