Google Pixel 7 Pro disassembly shows not much has changed since last year
The brand-new Google Pixel 7 Pro is official after months of leaks and rumors and YouTuber PBKreviews is here to bring us a closer look at its internals in his latest disassembly video.
The process starts by removing the SIM slot and applying heat near the sides of the display to loosen up the adhesive. After prying the screen off we get at the metal bracket that covers the internal components. Once the screen is disconnected and the cover removed, we finally see the 5,000 mAh battery held in place by plenty of adhesive and we also see two neatly placed pull tabs.
The main board is covered with a large sheet of graphite film to help with cooling. Taking off a few connectors and screws reveals the camera assembly which houses the 50MP main cam, the 12MP ultrawide sensor and the updated 48MP telephoto module with 5x optical zoom. A few step later and we get a look at the new 11MP selfie camera with autofocus.
The USB-C charging port appears to be soldered to the main board which would make repairs pretty difficult. The back glass is glued to the frame which is yet another hard-to-repair component. Pixel 7 Pro earns a 5.5/10 repairability score which is just about average.
