Google makes the Pixel Buds A-Series official with $99 price tag

Following quite a few leaks, today Google has unceremoniously made the Pixel Buds A-Series official. These are true wireless earbuds, like the Pixel Buds, but they’re cheaper, at $99. You can pre-order a pair from the Google Store right now.

The Pixel Buds A-Series have IPx4 rating for resistance to splashing of water, and a design that will supposedly give you a snug and secure fit while working out. The battery life is 5 hours of music or 2.5 hours of talking on a single charge, with up to 24 hours of total music listening or 12 hours of total talk time with the included charging case. A 15-minute charge in the case delivers up to 3 hours of music listening or 1.5 hours of talk time.

You can easily pair these with any Android device with one tap, and they feature Bluetooth 5.0. Inside each earbud is a custom-designed 12mm dynamic speaker driver, and a spatial vent for in-ear pressure reduction and spatial awareness. There’s passive noise reduction, but no active noise cancellation, and you get dual beamforming mics for phone calls. Adaptive Sound adjusts the volume automatically to fit your surroundings.

As with almost all true wireless earbuds, the Pixel Buds A-Series have capacitive touch sensors for music, calls, and Google Assistant controls, as well as an IR proximity sensor to detect when they’re in your ear for auto play and pause. Furthermore, there’s a motion detecting accelerometer built-in, and a Hall Effect sensor in the case to detect when it’s open and when it’s closed. You can have the Pixel Buds A-Series in Clearly White or Dark Olive.
