Google is coming for the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra with its Pixel Tablet Pro

Plenty of information related to the Pixel Tablet is already available, thanks to Google as well as several tipsters. The leaks highlighted that the Pixel Tablet might not come with a modem, GPS, proximity sensors, and other advanced tech. Well, it seems like Google is reserving all those high-end features for a Pixel Tablet “Pro.”

A few months ago, we came up with a report that Google might be secretly working on a Pixel Tablet Pro that would be placed in a category that Samsung dominates, i.e., the premium Android tablet segment. Samsung already has its position right at the top with its Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra and will launch the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra next year. So, are we going to see a Google Pixel Tablet Pro that would compete against the soon-to-come Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra? Well, at least that’s what the rumors have to say.

Code hunter Kuba Wojciechowski has spotted a new code hinting at a possible reference to the Google Pixel Tablet Pro in the Google Camera Go app. The code-digging revealed a code reference to a device named “TangorPro.” For those who don’t know, the standard Pixel Tablet carries the codename “Tangor.” And the “Pro” suffix attached to the codename hints at the Pixel Tablet Pro.

At the moment, it is unclear whether the company will release the Pixel Tablet Pro alongside the normal Pixel Tablet next year or if it is working on it. As far as the specs go, the Pixel Tablet is speculated to be powered by the first-gen Tensor chipset. However, considering that the launch will happen in 2023, Google might be reserving the Tensor G2 SoC for the Pixel Tablet Pro.

Whatever the case may be, if the Pixel Tablet Pro launches, not sure if it would give tough competition to the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra, but it will surely open up new options for premium tablet buyers.
