Google begins testing Duplex in New Zealand
Google Duplex is finally making its international debut in New Zealand. Google has begun testing its automated calling abilities to inquire for opening hours of local businesses ahead of the Labor Day holiday. Until now, the service was exclusive to US users but this testing phase confirms Google will soon offer it in more English speaking regions.
As usual Duplex will identify itself to the person on the other end of the line at the start of the call. Businesses are always free to opt-out of these calls through the My Business tool settings. There are no details as to when the system will be open for regular users though.
Currently, Duplex is offered across 48 states in the US where users can use it to schedule reservations for a growing list of establishments.
