Let’s get right to it. Amazon has the Crucial P5 1TB NVMe M.2 solid state drive on sale for $99.99. That’s a huge deal and even better than one we shared back in July when it dropped to $103 at Newegg as part of a Shell Shocker daily deal that didn’t last long. Of course now both Newegg and Best Buy have featured this new price, so you can get it anywhere you prefer. The drive normally sells for around $150, although it has been dropping to around $120 since these new sales started creeping up. This is the first time we’ve seen it drop this low.
The Crucial P5 has read and write speeds of up to 3,400 MB/s and 3,000 MB/s respectively. With 1TB of storage, that makes it a great solution for both storage and speed. Load your whole operating system in a matter of seconds. You’ll still have plenty of room for those slow-loading programs including video games, creative software like the Photoshop suite, and more.
Compare that to a SATA drive like the Samsung 870 Evo, which is actually still one of our favorite drives. It only has read/write speeds of 560 and 530 MB/s, making it much slower than the P5. (It is capable of much higher capacities all the way up to 4TB and uses the SATA form factor, which might be important to you.)
In addition to fast speeds, the drive has a lot of other features. The rapid, full-drive encryption means it can handle secure information and protect your data. It enhances security management with its available tools and helps prevent performance degradation over time. It also has adaptive thermal protection and error correction.
