Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 to get higher-quality third-party apps

Samsung is ensuring that third-party app developers have the necessary tools to create well-optimized apps for the new Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 foldable phones. The two devices are available for pre-order and will hit the shelves later this month, but app developers can already test their creations in Samsung’s Remote Test Lab.

Samsung has added its two new foldable phones to the Remote Test Lab platform. The latter allows third-party developers to test apps for specific Galaxy devices in a simulated environment. Developers don’t have to own the Galaxy Z Fold 4 or Z Flip 4 to optimize apps for these phones, which is a great thing for smaller developers who might not feel comfortable paying almost $3,000 for these devices only to use them to test apps.

Testing apps for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 is free

Samsung Remote Labs (RTL) is a cloud-based service that’s available to third-party app developers for free, as long as they have a Samsung Developers account. The cloud-based RTL platform allows every user to spend up to 5 hours (20 credits) a day testing apps for various Galaxy devices remotely. The Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 are the latest devices to join the RTL platform, but there are dozens of others.

As of this writing, RTL offers six Galaxy Z Flip 4 and five Galaxy Z Fold 4 device versions (in virtual format) for different regions, including South Korea, the UK, Poland, Russia, and Brazil. (via XDA-Developers)

The platform has a few limitations, but at the very least, it allows third-party app developers to weed out bugs and polish the user experience of their products before they push their apps onto the Galaxy Store.

Samsung will ship the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 later this month, but you can get a taste of what the new devices are capable of in our unboxing videos.
