Galaxy Z Fold 3 S Pen Pro compatibility has been confirmed by the FCC

Samsung has abandoned the Galaxy Note series for the time being, but the S Pen accessory is here to stay, and the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 3 will support it. This much was made clear by all the previous leaks and reports, but there’s even more evidence to support this theory now.

The unreleased S Pen Pro was recently approved by the FCC with model number EJ-P5450 in tow. This accessory was originally announced in January 2021 alongside the regular S Pen for the Galaxy S21 Ultra, but it was never brought to the market, with Samsung teasing a release later this year.

The S Pen Pro is now finally being prepared for prime time, judging by its presence at the FCC. And according to the official label that was attached to the FCC files (seen below), the S Pen Pro will be compatible with the Galaxy Note 10 Lite (and presumably the standard Note 10 / Note 10+, even though they are not mentioned), the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G, the Galaxy Note 20 duo, the Galaxy Tab S7 series, the Galaxy Tab S6, and of course, the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G.

S Pen Pro has Bluetooth LE and supports Air Actions

The upcoming S Pen Pro has Bluetooth LE connectivity, which of course means that it supports Air Actions, unlike the standard S Pen model that got released earlier this year. The Pro model is also larger and contains an internal battery.

It’s still unclear how the S Pen Pro will be offered alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and whether it will be included in the retail package or sold separately as an optional accessory. It’s probably going to be the latter, given the S Pen Pro’s compatibility with a variety of other Galaxy devices.

The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is expected to hit the stage at Unpacked in August, though Samsung has yet to confirm an exact date. The foldable device could become available for purchase in late August or in September.
