Galaxy Z Fold 3 camera specs leaked, could feature under-display camera

Samsung is expected to unveil three new high-end smartphones—Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Galaxy Z Flip 3—in August. While the designs of the three smartphones have been leaked over the past few weeks, the Galaxy Z Fold 3’s camera specs were mostly unknown. Now, the phone’s camera specs have been leaked.

Samsung tipster @FrontTron has claimed that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will have a total of five cameras (two selfie cameras and three rear-facing cameras). At the front, the phone could feature a 10MP selfie camera (Sony IMX374, 1.22µm pixels) fitted inside a punch-hole-shaped cutout on the cover display. Below the internal foldable display, Samsung could use a 16MP (Sony IMXx71, 1µm pixels) under-display camera. This means that the internal display will be devoid of any punch-hole-shaped cutout.

At the rear, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 could feature a tripe-camera setup consisting of a 12MP wide-angle camera, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 12MP telephoto camera. While the focal length of the rear-facing cameras isn’t known yet, it is being expected that the phone will have a 3x telephoto lens with OIS. The 12MP wide-angle camera could feature OIS as well for sharper shots in low-light conditions and smoother videos. We can also expect 4K 60fps video recording from all the cameras.

We had exclusively revealed that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 features an official IP rating for some form of dust and water resistance, offering the phone a much-needed strength. The phone could have a 7.5-inch foldable display and a 6.2-inch cover display, and both will have a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone could run Android 11 out of the box and come equipped with the Snapdragon 888 processor, 12GB/16GB RAM, 256GB/512GB internal storage, an S Pen, and a 4,400mAh battery.
