Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 April update rolling out in Europe

With the One UI 5.1 update in the rearview mirror for all compatible Galaxy flagships, Samsung is back to pushing out security updates until it’s time for the next major Android or One UI release. This week, Samsung has released the April 2023 security update for a good number of devices, and it is now updating the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3.

Samsung’s 2021 foldables are both getting updated with the April 2023 security patch in Europe. Both devices have already received the new security patch in the USA, and Samsung is now expanding availability to other regions.

Latest Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 update out for more users

The Galaxy Z Fold 3’s firmware version is being bumped up to F926BXXU3EWD1 while Galaxy Z Flip 3 owners will see firmware version F711BXXU4EWCC once they’ve installed the new update. The firmware versions for both phones indicate the update isn’t just bringing security fixes, although we currently don’t have the changelog and don’t know what’s new, improved, or changed.

We do know what’s included in the April 2023 security patch, though. It brings fixes for more than 60 vulnerabilities that affect Android and Samsung’s own customized version of the operating system. Some of the fixes are critical as they target vulnerabilities found in Samsung’s Exynos chips, though foldable owners can ignore them as Samsung exclusively uses Snapdragon chips on its foldable devices (a trend we hope never changes).

If you own a Galaxy Z Fold 3 or Galaxy Z Flip 3, you can check for the new update from the phone’s Settings » Software update menu. You can also download the latest firmware from our archive and install it on your Z Fold 3 or Z Flip 3 using a Windows PC.
