Galaxy Z Fold 2 at Sprint and T-Mobile gets April 2021 security patch

Samsung had released the April 2021 security patch to its flagship foldable smartphone early last month. However, the update was limited to unlocked units of the Galaxy Z Fold 2. A couple of weeks ago, the update made it to the Galaxy Z Fold 2 on Verizon’s network in the US. Now, the same update is available for more carrier variants in the country.

The Galaxy Z Fold 2 is now receiving a new software update on Sprint’s and T-Mobile’s network in the US. The update carries firmware version F916USQU1DUCE and includes the April 2021 security patch. This update fixes various critical security vulnerabilities found in Galaxy smartphones and includes 21 fixes from Samsung and more than 30 fixes from Google.

The new software also brings some new camera features to the Galaxy Z Fold 2, including the ability to use the ultrawide camera in Pro and Pro Video modes. There are three new Portrait effects: Backdrop, High-Key Mono, and Low-Key Mono. The camera can also detect low-light conditions and automatically activate the Night Mode feature in Photo, Portrait, and Hyperlapse modes.

If you are a Galaxy Z Fold 2 user in the US on Sprint’s or T-Mobile’s network, you can check for the update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the latest firmware files from our firmware section and flash the phone manually.
