Galaxy Xcover 5 catches up with the pack, gets March security update

After the original Galaxy Fold, the rugged Galaxy Xcover 5 has become the second relatively rare Samsung smartphone to be receiving a new firmware update. Sadly, it’s not One UI 4.1 this time, but the new update includes the March 2022 security patch, and it is rolling out across Europe.

If you happen to own the Galaxy Xcover 5, you can try downloading the March 2022 security patch by opening the Settings app, tapping “About phone,” after which you select “Software update.” You can also download the new update from the firmware section on our website and install it on your phone using the official Odin tool.

Android 12 and One UI 4.1 are still M.I.A.

The March security update is available for the Galaxy Xcover 5 in Southeast Europe, Slovakia, Hungary, Spain, Serbia, Austria, Netherlands, Portugal, France, Nordic countries, Germany, Romania, Austria, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Portugal, Luxembourg, Greece, Macedonia, Poland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Russia, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and Baltic countries. The firmware version you’re looking for is G525FXXU5AVC1.

The Galaxy Xcover 5 is only a couple of months old and is also one of the remaining Samsung phones that still run Android 11, but it should transition to Android 12 and One UI 4.1 at some unknown point in the future. We’ll keep you posted.
