Galaxy Tab S8 FE to feature an LCD and S Pen powered by Wacom

A couple of months have passed since we last heard about the Galaxy Tab S8 FE. Although progress on this upcoming Fan Edition tablet seemingly continues to be slow, a couple more details about its display have now emerged. And by the sound of it, the next Fan Edition tablet might not offer that much of a display upgrade over the existing Galaxy Tab S7 FE.

Very few details about the Galaxy Tab S8 FE are known, but the latest rumor suggests that Samsung will continue using an LCD panel for the Tab S FE series rather than switching to AMOLED. Thankfully, like the Galaxy Tab S7 FE, the upcoming Tab S8 FE will continue to offer S Pen support. And thanks to a Wacom digitizer, the S Pen experience will reportedly be “great.” (via @rquandt)

There’s still room for at least one key display upgrade

Details on the Galaxy Tab S8 FE display resolution, size, and other characteristics are missing at present. Therefore, even if the Tab S8 FE won’t be upgraded to an AMOLED panel, there’s still hope for improvement in certain areas. One key characteristic that the Galaxy Tab S8 FE could improve is the refresh rate. The Galaxy Tab S7 FE has a 60Hz LCD, which means there’s room for the Galaxy Tab S8 FE’s panel to push toward a 120Hz refresh rate. However, this detail remains unclear, so we’ll have to wait and see if the Galaxy Tab S8 FE will offer any meaningful display upgrades over the Tab S7 FE.

As for other specs, the Galaxy Tab S8 FE was previously spotted online in a Geekbench benchmark entry. At that time, the device ran Android 13 and featured the MediaTek MT8791V chipset, a.k.a. Kompanio 900T. The tablet appears to have been in development for some time, and given that the Galaxy Tab S7 FE was released in June 2021, the sequel won’t be a yearly follow-up. The Galaxy Tab S8 FE may be released next year, but time will tell. As always, we’ll keep you posted once we find out more.
