Galaxy S24 FE’s first software rolling out in more countries

The Galaxy S24 FE has been available for purchase around the world for mere days, and it has already received its first software update in that time. That update was released in India, Europe, and some African markets last week, and it’s now out in the USA.

The update is rolling out in the US on Verizon’s network and should come to other carrier variants and unlocked units in the country soon. It comes with the October 2024 security patch and bumps the build/firmware version up to S721USQS2AXI5.

Only security fixes are included in the update, which is normal for newly launched smartphones. Things will get exciting in a couple of months for Galaxy S24 FE buyers once Samsung is ready with the One UI 7.0 update, though it may only be available in beta this year.

One UI 7.0, based on Android 15, will debut in 2025 with the Galaxy S25 series. It will be the first of many major OS updates for the Galaxy S24 FE. The Fan Edition model, like the S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra, is eligible to receive firmware updates for seven years.

The October 2024 security update for Galaxy devices was detailed by Samsung earlier this week. At the time of writing, it doesn’t seem to be available for any other Galaxy smartphone, but we assume that is temporary.
