Galaxy S22 to be launched in Samsung’s Decentraland metaverse

Now that live events are no longer a thing, at least for the foreseeable future, OEMs have to come up with interesting ways to launch their products. While there’s nothing wrong with an old fashioned online launch, Samsung wants to spice up the Galaxy Unpacked experience by unveiling the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy Tab S8 in the Metaverse.

Samsung will use its existing virtual reality world to host Unpacked 2022

Samsung will use its newly-constructed Decentraland virtual world for the Galaxy S22 reveal. Participation involves linking your cryptocurrency wallet, but it isn’t mandatory. It is likely that Samsung could have some exclusive goodies for those who link their wallets, though.

Once Galaxy Unpacked 2022 kicks off, you can navigate through Decentraland with your keyboard and mouse and peruse through Samsung’s latest offerings. There’s even a character creator that lets you customize the look of your Decentraland avatar.

We took the liberty of traipsing around Decentraland for a bit and found it to be quite unpopulated. However, that could change once the Galaxy Unpacked kicks off.  It is, after all, one of Samsung’s largest events of 2022  and it will undoubtedly have something in store for the crypto crowd in the form of NFTs and the likes.

Or, if you’re old fashioned and can’t be bothered with fancy 3D VR spaces, here’s our in-depth guide on how to watch Galaxy Unpacked 2022.
