Galaxy S22 series has the brightest, most accurate AMOLED display yet!

One of the things that didn’t take us by surprise at Galaxy Unpacked was the Galaxy S22 series’ new, brighter AMOLED displays. SamMobile exclusively learned about the S22 series’ improved brightness levels back in December, but it’s always nice to have official confirmation after all this time.

So, the Galaxy S22 series has brighter screens. Well, not entirely. The Galaxy S22+ and S22 Ultra feature improved panels, while the base Galaxy S22 model retains the same 1,000 / 1,300 peak brightness levels as the Galaxy S21.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy S22+ and S22 Ultra models can top a whopping 1,750 nits of brightness, which is the highest yet.

As explained back in December, this unprecedented level of “peak” brightness can be achieved only in certain conditions, such as when auto-brightness is enabled. In manual mode, Galaxy S22+ and S22 Ultra users can enjoy a brightness level of up to 1,200 nits.

How Samsung’s Vision Booster technology improves screen visibility

Having a display that can shine bright in outdoor lighting conditions is fantastic, but there are some caveats, as a high peak brightness level doesn’t always guarantee the best image quality. Color reproduction and accuracy can suffer.

The Galaxy S22 series mitigates these issues through what Samsung calls Vision Booster technology. Its purpose is to analyze environmental brightness levels first and then remap the tone of the image while readjusting the screen’s brightness in a way that retains color accuracy even in very lit areas.

So, the Galaxy S22+ and S22 Ultra not only have the brightest mobile displays, but they also leverage advanced technologies to deliver unmatched image quality in all sorts of lighting conditions.

Whether or not all of this works in the real world remains to be seen. We’ll be happy to test the quality of these displays in our upcoming Galaxy S22 series reviews, so make sure you stay tuned.
