Galaxy S21’s carrier-locked variant is getting the August 2021 security update

Five days ago, Samsung started rolling out the August 2021 security update to the Galaxy S21 series in China. Earlier today, the company released it to the international variants of the Galaxy S21. Now, the carrier-locked units in the Galaxy S21 series have started getting a new update.

Samsung has released a new software update to the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and the Galaxy S21 Ultra on Xfinity Mobile’s network in the US. The software has firmware version G99xUSQU4AUGE and includes the August 2021 security patch. The company has explained on its website that its latest security patch fixes 40 privacy and security-related vulnerabilities. The update might not include any new features or user-facing UI changes.

If you are a Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, or Galaxy S21 Ultra user on Xfinity Mobile’s network in the US, you can check for the update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also choose to flash the firmware manually after downloading the latest firmware file from our firmware database.

Samsung is expected to release the update to Galaxy S21 series devices on more US networks over the next few days. The phones were launched earlier this year with Android 11-based One UI 3.1. They have been getting monthly security updates since their release. The phones will get three major Android OS updates, which will take them to Android 14 towards the end of their lifecycle.
