Galaxy S21 gets April 2023 security update, starting with Europe

Samsung has started rolling out the April 2023 security update to the Galaxy S21 series in Europe. Last week, the same update was released to the unlocked units of the Galaxy S21 series in the US. Other regions could get the new security update within the next couple of weeks.

The latest software update for the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra comes with firmware version G99xBXXU7EWCH. Currently, the new update is rolling out in Romania, and we expect other European countries to get access to this update within the next few days. It brings the April 2023 security patch that fixes over 60 security flaws, including the critical ones related to Exynos processors and Exynos modems.

How to install Galaxy S21 April 2023 software update?

If you have a Galaxy S21 series smartphone in Europe, you can check for the new update by heading over to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also get the new update by downloading the latest appropriate firmware file from our firmware database and flashing it manually using a Windows PC and the Odin tool.

Samsung debuted the Galaxy S21 series in early 2021 with Android 11-based One UI 3.1 software. The smartphones in the lineup received the Android 12-based One UI 4.1 update in late 2021. In late 2022, Samsung released the Android 13 update to the smartphones in the Galaxy S21 series.
