Galaxy S21 FE inches closer to launch, key specs get confirmed
The Galaxy S21 FE was supposed to launch next month alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and the Galaxy Z Fold 3. However, its launch was delayed to Q4 2021 due to the shortage of chips and batteries. Now, the smartphone has slowly but surely moved closer to its launch as it has passed through China’s mandatory TENAA certification process.
Samsung’s upcoming affordable high-end smartphone appears to feature a 6.4-inch display with Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Galaxy S21 FE (SM-G9900) runs Android 11 out of the box and comes powered by a 4,370mAh battery (could be marketed as a 4,500mAh battery). The certification document also reveals that the Galaxy S21 FE features 5G connectivity and a dual-SIM card slot. The smartphone measures 155.7×74.5×7.9mm, which means that it is more compact than the Galaxy S20 FE.
Going by previous leaks, the Galaxy S21 FE features an in-display fingerprint reader, stereo speakers, and an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. It is expected to come equipped with the Exynos 2100 processor in some Asian and African markets, while other regions will get the Snapdragon 888 processor. It could have 6GB/8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB internal storage. Other features could include GPS, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, USB Type-C port, wireless charging, and 45W fast wired charging.
