Galaxy S21 FE getting its first software update in the US

The Galaxy S21 FE was announced earlier this month at CES 2022. Three days ago, the smartphone started getting the January 2022 security update in some Asian markets. Now, that security update has reached the Galaxy S21 FE in the US, making it the phone’s first software update.

The latest software update for the unlocked variant of the Galaxy S21 FE comes with firmware version G990U1UEU2BUL8 in the US. It includes the January 2022 security patch to fix dozens of privacy and security vulnerabilities. The update is rolling out on almost all carrier networks, including AT&T, Bluegrass Cellular, Comcast, C-Spire, Tracfone, T-Mobile, Verizon, and Xfinity Mobile.

If you are a Galaxy S21 FE user in the US, you can check for the new software update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the latest firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.

Samsung launched the Galaxy S21 FE with Android 12 onboard. It will get three major Android OS updates, which means it is good for up to Android 15. The smartphone will also get security patches for up to four years from its release.
