Galaxy S20 series is getting September 2022 security update in parts of Europe

After the Galaxy S21 and the Galaxy S22, Samsung has released the September 2022 security update to the Galaxy S20 series. Both LTE and 5G variants of the phones are getting the new security update. European countries are the first to get access to this update.

The latest software update for the LTE variants of the Galaxy S20 series comes with firmware version G985FXXSFFVHA. For the 5G variants, the new update is rolling out with firmware version G986BXXSFFVHA. The September 2022 security patch included in this update brings fixes for over two dozen security vulnerabilities. The update might also include general bug fixes and device stability improvements.

Samsung might expand the update to other parts of the world soon. If you are a Galaxy S20 user in Europe, you can download and install the new update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also download the appropriate firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.

The Galaxy S20 series debuted with Android 10-based One UI 2 software onboard. The devices received the Android 11-based One UI 3 update early last year and the Android 12-based One UI 4 update late last year. The Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and the Galaxy S20 Ultra are expected to get the Android 13-based One UI 5 update later this year or early next year.
