Galaxy Note 20, Note 20 Ultra pick up update with June 2023 security fixes

Not content with updating just one phone with the latest security fixes, Samsung has started rolling out the June 2023 security update to the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra following its release for the Galaxy Z Fold 4.

Like the Z Fold 4, the Galaxy Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra’s June update has debuted in the US for unlocked units, with carrier-locked variants hopefully not too far behind. The firmware version accompanying the update is N98xU1UES4HWE1, and as expected, it doesn’t include anything but new security fixes.

Of course, that’s likely going to be the case for all future Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra updates. Both phones received their last major Android and One UI upgrade with Android 13 and One UI 5.1 and are only eligible for security updates going forward.

Samsung has yet to detail what vulnerabilities are fixed in the June security update, but we expect that to change later this week. In the meantime, if you own an unlocked Galaxy Note 20 or Note 20 Ultra in the USA, you can download the update over the air via the phone’s Settings » Software update menu. Alternatively, you can install the new software using firmware that you can download from our archive, though you will need a Windows PC for this.
