Galaxy Fit 3 isn’t coming to the US; here’s why
Last week, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Fit 3, its cheapest fitness tracking device. The Galaxy Fit 3 went on sale in several countries, including India, the same week. Some were interested in knowing when the Galaxy Fit 3 would be launched in the US and other regions. And there is some bad news. The wearable device is not coming to some countries and regions.
Galaxy Fit 3 isn’t launching in Canada and the USA
Samsung has confirmed to Android Central that the Galaxy Fit 3 will not be launched in Canada and the US. It is also not coming to some countries in Africa and Asia. It might not launch in Australia as well. The South Korean firm has confirmed that the Galaxy Fit 3 will launch on February 26 in specific Asian, Central American, European, and South American countries. A Samsung Electronics representative reportedly told the publication, “Samsung looks holistically across our product portfolio and bundling optimal devices together that align with the market trends and needs for each region.”
It is possible that Samsung doesn’t see many sales coming for the Galaxy Fit 3 in Canada, the UK, and the US. When there aren’t enough sales, setting up the whole marketing process, retail sales channel, accessory lineup, and after-sales service (and availability of spare parts for at least a few years) would not be commercially viable.
Sales of fitness bands have been dropping since 2020. In 2020, total sales of fitness tracking bands worldwide were around 80 million, and that figure dropped sharply to 60 million in 2021. Sales dropped to around 40 million in 2022 and then to 35.8 million in 2023. This year, Canalys expects sales of around 33 million fitness bands. A cheaper fitness tracking device could also hurt the sales of Samsung’s higher-priced Galaxy Watches. Instead, Samsung could offer the Galaxy Ring as the alternative to the Galaxy Fit 3 in Europe and North America.
