Galaxy F42 5G gets Android 13, its last major software update

After getting the Android 12-based One UI 4.1 update four months ago, the Galaxy F42 5G has started getting the Android 13 update. That’s an incredible turnaround from Samsung. This is the last major Android OS update for the Galaxy F42 5G, though, and it will only be getting security updates from now onwards.

The Android 13 update for the Galaxy F42 5G is rolling out in India with firmware version E426BXXU3CVKC. The new software brings One UI 5.0 to the phone along with the November 2022 security patch. The phone was launched in only a few Asian countries, including Sri Lanka, and the update could be released in those countries within the next few days.

If you are a Galaxy F42 5G user in India, you can install the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update on your smartphone now. You can do that by heading to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.

The Galaxy F42 5G is a rebranded version of the Galaxy A22 5G, and the latter also received the Android 13 update yesterday. The Galaxy F42 5G was launched in late 2021 with Android 11-based One UI 3.1 onboard, and it received the Android 12-based One UI 4 update towards the end of July 2022.
