Galaxy A42 5G to be launched in South Korea on Friday

Samsung had unveiled the Galaxy A42 5G five months ago. The mid-range 5G smartphone is already available in a few markets, including Taiwan, Thailand, the Netherlands, and the UK. Now, the company has announced that it will launch the Galaxy A42 5G in its home market later this week.

The Galaxy A42 5G will be launched in South Korea on March 12. The unlocked variant of the phone is priced at KRW 449,000 (around $395). The smartphone will be available in three colors: Prism Dot Black, Prism Dot Gray, and Prism Dot White. The company has already started taking pre-orders for the phone via 11Street, Coupang, Gmarket, and carrier websites.

Some online retailers are offering a 20% discount to those who pre-order the Galaxy A42 5G. Samsung is also offering a 50% discount on the Galaxy Buds Live to those who buy the smartphone this month. The phone also comes with a 2-month free trial to YouTube Premium and Millie’s Library ebook service.

The Galaxy A42 5G features a 6.6-inch HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity-U display, an in-display fingerprint reader, a 20MP selfie camera, and a 48MP+8MP+5MP+5MP quad-camera setup at the rear. It runs Android 10 out of the box and comes equipped with the Snapdragon 750G processor, 4GB/6GB/8GB RAM, 128GB storage, and a microSD card slot.

A 5,000mAh battery powers the Galaxy A42 5G and it is compatible with 15W fast charging. Other features include 5G, GPS, Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
