Galaxy A42 5G gets updated with May 2023 security patch

Four months after getting the December 2022 security update, the Galaxy A42 5G has started getting the May 2023 security update. Mysteriously, the international version of the smartphone is still running Android 12, while the South Korean and US versions of the device received the Android 13 update months ago.

The latest software update for the Galaxy A42 5G comes with firmware version A426BXXU5DWE1. The update brings the May 2023 security patch that fixes over 70 security flaws found in Galaxy phones and tablets. The update might also include general bug fixes and reliability improvement.

Galaxy A42 5G May 2023 security update: Where has it been released?

Right now, the May 2023 security update is available to the Galaxy A42 5G in various European countries listed below.

If you live in any of the countries mentioned above and have the Galaxy A42 5G, you can now install the newest software update by heading to Settings » Software update and tapping Download and install. You can also download the new firmware file from our database and flash it manually.

Samsung launched the Galaxy A42 5G in late 2020 with Android 10 onboard. It received the Android 11 update in early 2021 and the Android 12 update in late 2021. The South Korean and US versions of the phone received the Android 13 update earlier this year, but it is mysteriously missing from the European variant of the device.
