Galaxy A13 grabs Android 13 update in the US

Last month, Samsung rolled out the Android 13 (One UI 5.0) update to the Galaxy A13 in the international market, and it came with November 2022 security patch. Today, the company is rolling out the Android 13 update with the January 2023 security patch to the device in the US (SM-A135U1).

The Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update for the carrier-unlocked 4G variant of the Galaxy A13 comes with firmware version A135U1UEU2BWA2. It also brings the January 2023 security patch that fixes over fifty security issues. The update is currently rolling out to devices on AT&T, Bluegrass, Cellular South, Comcast, Cricket, Nextech, US Cellular, Verizon, and Xfinity Mobile.

If you own a carrier-locked Galaxy A13 4G in the US, your device should automatically prompt you to get the Android 13 update. But if it hasn’t, you can check for the update manually by going to Settings » Software update and clicking Download and install. Alternatively, you can download the firmware from our database and flash it manually.

Samsung launched the Galaxy A13 in March 2022 with Android 12 onboard. The smartphone is placed in Samsung’s quarterly security update schedule. It means the phone will get one security update every three months instead of one every month. The Galaxy A13 will most likely get Android 14 when it arrives later this year.

What’s new with Galaxy A13 Android 13 update?

The Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update brings a lot of new features and a refreshed UI design to the Galaxy A13. It features an updated UI design with bigger notification icons, new widgets, easier lockscreen customization, and better animations. All the stock apps, including Camera, Calendar, My Files, Samsung Internet, and Samsung Keyboard, have been updated with an improved design and more features.

Samsung has replaced Bixby Routines with Modes & Routines. The built-in Gallery, Photo Editor, and Video Editor have also improved. There is a newer design for Device Care, faster performance, and improved privacy and security. You can view all the important features in the video below.
