Galaxy A12 starts getting December 2022 security update
Samsung rolls out security updates to the Galaxy A12 once every quarter, and this quarter’s security update is here. The company has started pushing out the December 2022 security patch to the international, US carrier-locked, and South Korean versions of the Galaxy A12.
The latest update for the international (SM-A125F) variant of the Galaxy A12 bumps the firmware version to A125FXXU2CVL1. The firmware versions for the US carrier-locked (SM-A125U) and South Korean (SM-A125N) variants of the smartphone come with firmware versions A125NKSU2CVL1 and A125USQS5CVL6, respectively. These updates bring December 2022 security patch, which fixes 93 security vulnerabilities. But they could also have bug fixes and performance improvements.
The International variant is getting the December 2022 security update in six regions: Caucasus Countries, Germany, Kazakhstan, Russia, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan. The South Korean variant of the device is receiving updates on SK Telecom, LG Uplus, and KT Corporation networks. The carrier-locked version of the device in the US is getting the update on US Cellular’s network. Expect Samsung to roll out the update to remaining variants and other regions in the next few days.
Galaxy A12 could get Android 13 (One UI 5.0) soon
The Galaxy A12 received the Android 12 (One UI 4.0) update back in August 2022. Since the smartphone launched with Android 10 onboard, and it is supposed to get three Android OS updates, the device is eligible to get the Android 13 update (One UI 5.0). So far, Samsung has rolled out Android 13-based One UI 5.0 software to many smartphones, and you can expect the Galaxy A12 also to get it very soon. But a concrete date for the rollout isn’t available yet.
