Four-year-old Galaxy S9 gets a new software update in the US
Samsung has released a new software update to the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+. Considering that these two phones were released more than four years ago, it is impressive to see them still getting new updates.
The latest software update for the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9+ comes with firmware version G96xUSQU9FVB2. The update has been released to the carrier-locked models of the phones in the US. All the carriers will start rolling out this update within the next few days.
The new update brings the March 2022 security patch to fix dozens of privacy and security vulnerabilities. It might also bring general bug fixes and device stability improvements.
If you are a loyal fan who is still rocking a Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9+, you can download and install the latest software update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the latest firmware file from our database and flash it manually.
Samsung launched the Galaxy S9 series in 2018 with Android 8.0 Oreo onboard. The devices in the series received the Android 9-based One UI update in 2019 and the Android 10-based One UI 2 update in 2020.
