Fitbit Versa 4 and Sense 2 pictures leak

The Fitbit Versa 4 and Fitbit Sense 2 have leaked online – and we now have some idea of what to expect from the two smartwatches.

The Versa 3 and Sense – which share most of the same visual hardware and design cues – were launched back in 2020, so are long-overdue an update.

Now a report by 9to5Google has revealed leaked photos their successors, and some details of features we might see.

The two shots published by 9to5Google purport to show the two smartwatches – with the Fitbit Sense case sporting a metallic bezel used for taking ECG.

The devices don’t seem to have changed much in terms of design – and the report indicates that bands from the older devices will work on the new ones. So, visually, this seems a minimal update.

However, the shots do show a physical button on the right hand side, rather than a touch-sensitive haptic zone. We found that hit and miss on the previous Versa 3/Sense, so we’d pleased to find something a little more reliable.

That’s the only information so far – so with very little appearing to change in terms of design and hardware, we’ll be hoping for some juicy new features.

We’ve had an inkling a successor was coming after references to the smartwatches were found in the Android Fitbit app’s source code.

Fitbit has been really active at launching new software features across its line – and the existing Versa range (all the way to Versa 2) just received the continuous, passive ECG monitoring. That’s great for users of Fitbits past and present – but it will be interesting to see the kinds of features the Versa 4/Sense 2 can boast when they launch.

So what about release dates. The same report says that Fitbit is targeting a spring 2022 launch. Time is ticking.
