Fitbit Charge 6 may offer near-identical design to the Charge 5

Fitbit’s upcoming Charge 6 will feature a design very reminiscent of the Charge 5.

That’s according to an industry source speaking to 9to5Google, indicating the Google-owned company’s next flagship fitness tracker won’t change too much on the design front.

As reported last month, an unknown Fitbit device hit the FCC the same day the company announced a trio of new wearables, the Sense 2, Versa 4 and Inspire 3.

According to the tipster, that device – tagged FB424 in the FCC listing – is likely to refer to the ‘Charge 6’ referenced in the code of a recent test of Google Wallet on Fitbit products.

If this latest rumor turns out to be true, then, and the Charge 6 won’t feature a revised design, it would represent a similar jump as was present with the Charge 3 and Charge 4, in which added features were the headline change.

The question then becomes what features Fitbit could be inclined to add to a possible Charge 6.

It could follow the previous convention and offer some of the latest top-end features of Fitbit’s smartwatches, such as the new Body Response sensor packed into the Sense 2, or it could be holding back exclusives that will arrive on older devices in an update.

Either way, we shouldn’t have too long to wait until the official details become clear, given that an FCC listing is usually one of the last steps taken before a device gets announced.

With Fitbit only just releasing a slew of new devices, however, our best guess is that the Charge 6 will be one of the first new devices we see in 2023.
