Fitbit Charge 5 leaks in official-looking, high-res renders

Fitbit is apparently almost ready with its next Charge wearable. At least that’s what reputable leakster Evan Blass (@evleaks) suggests with a set of renders he recently posted.

Unfortunately, there is not additional info on hardware or features here, but we can still try to make some educated guesses and speculate a bit. Since this is allegedly a Charge device, it is safe to assume that it will have on-board GPS, like its predecessor. Also, likely an Sp02 sensor. Seeing how Fitbit also ported-over some features like skin temperature tracking to the Charge 4, previously only available on premium Sense devices, perhaps it is safe to assume those will be part of the Charge 5 roster, as well.

Looking at the renders themselves, we can’t help but notice the two huge pads on either side of the device, which seem to be made of a slightly different metal than the rest of the body. One “out-there” speculation would be an ECG reader, but our best guess is that these might just offer some sliding-based capacitive navigation. Of course, we could be wrong on that end.

The renders seem to show a total of three colors for both the Fitbit Charge 5 itself, as well as its band. The latter are definitely proprietary and not standard watch straps. Finally, we could potentially read into the October 23 date shown on all of the renders. Perhaps that’s the planned announcement date for the device.
