First STALKER 2 screenshot revealed, more to come in 2020

Developer GSC Game World has finally revealed an in-engine look at STALKER 2 in the form of an image in a Tweet. The picture features what appears to be a decaying forest area that has an abandoned picnic table and some car wrecks in it, and perhaps most notably, one of STALKER’s trademark anomalies (the blue-black hole in the background). These phenomena exist due to strange happenings in STALKER’s version of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. If STALKER 2 is anything like the original STALKER games, players will encounter plenty of dangerous anomalies, as well as horribly mutated beasts and supernatural entities.

What do you think of the screenshot? I think it looks incredible, and I’m glad to see that GSC Game World is working some magic with the Unreal Engine. The misty and unsettling aesthetic of The Zone looks amazing with modern visuals, and I can’t wait to see more. Thankfully, we don’t have to wait long for that, as the developer confirmed there’s “more to come in 2020” in a follow-up message to players. It’s unclear when exactly we’ll get to see more of STALKER 2, but we do know it will be soon.

STALKER 2 isn’t expected to release until 2021. As far as we know, it will be released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
