The first-generation of the Google Pixel and Pixel XL did not receive the November update patch, which prompted many to realize that the OG Pixel has fulfilled Google’s promised run of OTA updates for its lifetime.
However, as confirmed by Google via The Verge the Pixel and Pixel XL will receive “one final software update” in December. Google explains that the first-gen Pixels won’t receive an update for November and that next month’s update “encapsulates a variety of updates” combines from both the November and upcoming December patches.
Google Pixel owners were surprised to see the Android 10 update since Google only promises two major OS updates and three years of patches. As the Pixel reaches the end of its officially supported life cycle, we wonder which device they’d look to update to.
Are you an OG Pixel owner? Which device are you considering updating to?
