First Galaxy F42 5G render leaks, courtesy of Google

Samsung has yet to announce the rumored Galaxy F42 5G, but more evidence is piling up in favor of an imminent release. The smartphone made an appearance at the Google Play Console recently, and a few key specifications were confirmed and reconfirmed along the way.

Looking at the screenshot below, you might notice that the Play Console refers to the device the Galaxy Wide 5, but make no mistake; the Wide 5 is a rebranded Galaxy F42 5G, and so is the Galaxy Buddy for that matter, though the latter is unmentioned in the listing — via @TTechnical.

As to what the Google Play Console is saying about the Galaxy F42 5G, we’re looking at the same MediaTek MT6833V — Dimensity 700 — chipset as before, 6GB of RAM, a display with an FHD+ resolution and a pixel density of around 450 pixels per inch, and Android 11.

Blue is making a comeback

The Galaxy F42 5G has an Infinity-V display notch and a fairly thick lower bezel. All in all, it looks like a budget phone, at least when viewed from the front.

The render attached to the Console listing — or more specifically, the way the side button sinks into the edge of the phone — hints at a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The back panel appears to have a hue similar to Awesome Blue. The same color was abandoned recently by the Galaxy A52s in favor of green.

Samsung hasn’t made an official announcement yet, but rumor has it that the Galaxy F42 5G will debut in India this month.
