Fifth Samsung India E.D.G.E. campus program kicks off in virtual format

Samsung India’s campus program E.D.G.E. (Empowering Dreams Gaining Excellence) has kicked off once again, allowing students from the country’s top colleges to exhibit their talents in a series of competitions, interact with Samsung’s top leaders, and potentially gain a head-start in their careers.

This is the fifth edition of E.D.G.E and like many other Samsung events that kicked off this year – including Galaxy Unpacked – the 2020 campus program will take place exclusively in a virtual environment. We live in the age of social distancing after all, so the virtual format is not at all unexpected.

Regardless, E.D.G.E. participants consist of students from 20 campuses including engineering colleges, design schools, and top business schools. Students can form three-member teams and team members can belong to different years and/or specializations. Students and teams will compete in three rounds, the first of which will be focused on the concept of ideation. Participant teams will have to work on research and analysis, and formulate an innovative approach to a given problem.

Samsung India hasn’t yet revealed what this year’s topic will be, but the theme of E.D.G.E. 2019 was Driving for Change and participants had to come up with solutions to micro issues affecting local communities. The E.D.G.E. program welcomed 3,873 students last year and team Skyforce won the competition by proposing a technology-based solution for ASHA workers to address issues such as information asymmetry, tracking, and manual data registration.
