Elon Musk to step down from Twitter CEO role by the end of 2023

Elon Musk bought Twitter and is currently the CEO of the company, but he’s already preparing to vacate the position. He spoke at the World Government Summit in Dubai via video link, saying he needs to “stabilize the organization” and “make sure it’s in a financially healthy place”. After that, he will likely find someone else to run the company, Musk added.

This isn’t the first time we hear the self-proclaimed free speech absolutist talk about stepping down from the top executive position, but now we have a potential timeline. According to sources, speaking to Bloomberg, the billionaire is actively looking for a person to be the Twitter CEO with the transition expected to happen towards the end of the year. Musk’s lack of presence at Tesla is making some investors in the electric car company nervous. For his part Musk said Space X and Tesla require less work to operate now compared to three to five years ago.

Elon Musk called Twitter “a startup in reverse” during the video conversation with the UAE’s minister of cabinet affairs. The social network still needs lots of work to be “in a stable position”. He currently works seven days a week with six hours of sleep, and he aspires to do “a mere 80 hours working week”.
