Dynabook’s Portégé X and Tecra A laptops get 10th Gen Intel vPro boost

Dynabook only just unveiled its updated Portégé X line of business laptops with Intel’s 10th Gen Comet Lake CPUs in April, but it’s already upping the ante. Coinciding with the launch of Intel’s latest business-focused vPro processors, Dynabook revealed it will soon start shipping both the Portégé X and Tecra A laptops with the new processors. The updates bring additional security, endpoint management assistance, and more.

The Portégé X series is made up of the new x30L-G, X30-G, X40-G, and X50-G. The laptops match those already on the market, but with upgraded vPro processors. They range from 13.3 inches on the X30L-G to a 15.6-inch model with the X50-G.

The Tecra A series, meanwhile, includes the Tecra A30-G and A40-G. The former is a 13.3-inch laptop while the latter is a 14-inch mode. Both feature an emphasis on security and business applications and undergo military-grade testing for drop, dust, extreme temperatures, humidity, shock, and solar radiation.

The performance of the new 10th Gen Intel Core vPro processors should match that of their non-vPro counterparts. There’s also Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) on board here, which was a highlight feature at the launch of the 10th Gen chips. The vPro designation means that Intel has baked in more hardware security features and management capabilities for IT departments.

Dynabook says that you can expect the Portégé X and Tecra A series laptops to begin shipping with Intel vPro processors by the end of Q2 2020.
