Dragon Quest Builders 2 is coming to Xbox Game Pass on May 4

Xbox Game Pass and JRPG fans, rejoice! A recent announcement from Xbox Wire confirmed that Dragon Quest Builders 2 is coming to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S (via backward compatibility), and Windows 10 PC on May 4 as well as launching into Xbox Game Pass (Cloud, Console, and PC). While this crafting-centric spinoff of the legendary Dragon Quest series has been on both Nintendo and Playstation for quite some time, this will be the first entry for the Xbox platform.

What is Dragon Quest Builders 2?

For the uninitiated, Dragon Quest Builders 2 is a Minecraft-inspired spinoff of the iconic JRPG franchise created by Yuji Horii, Akira Toriyama, and composer Koichi Sugiyama. This block-building RPG retains the same charming art style and quirky characters of the mainline series, but shifts the gameplay focus to gathering resources and building up your own town. As an aspiring ‘Master Builder’ it’s up to you to explore your environments in search of rare resources and defend your creations from hordes of attacking enemies.

I played quite of bit of Dragon Quest Builders 2 on Nintendo Switch and I’m very much looking forward to playing the co-op multiplayer mode with some friends on Xbox. With cross-progression across console, PC, and mobile through cloud-streaming, this is a fantastic pick-up-and-play title with loads of play time. This isn’t one to miss if you’re a fan of Minecraft or classic JRPGs.
