Developers paid $1.2 billion so far from ID@Xbox

Microsoft really struggled to capture independent developers towards the beginning of the generation, but when the team established the ID@Xbox program, that all changed. Since then, the team led by Chris Charla has not only released countless games on Xbox One and Windows 10, but also made a lot of smaller creators very happy.

In an interview between GamesIndustry and the program’s leader Charla, the latter revealed how much has been given to independent developers. He said the following.

We’ve paid more than $1.2 billion to independent developers this generation for games that have come through the ID program. There’s great commercial opportunity. There’s great artist opportunity.

It’s great to see that the ID@Xbox program is doing so well. Hopefully, this success will transfer over to the next generation in Holiday 2020.
