Destiny only trails Call of Duty in terms of franchise sales in the U.S.
Destiny 2 is a first-person shooter from Bungie that is still incredibly popular after all this time. The game is about to get a new expansion called Shadowkeep, and pre-loading is now live on Xbox One. The new content will definitely increase in the player count, but just how popular of a game is it.
According to The NPD Group which tracks game sales in the United States, Destiny is the second best-selling first-person shooter franchise in dollar sales, trailing only Call of Duty. This is quite surprising because many assumed that titles like Battlefield and Halo would be up there.
Destiny 2: Shadowkeep launches tomorrow. Since its debut in Sept ’14, Destiny is the #2 best-selling FPS franchise in U.S. dollar sales, trailing only Call of Duty. Destiny is also the 7th overall best-selling franchise in tracked sales in that period. Source: The NPD Group pic.twitter.com/z66MccNp0G
