Destiny 2 will run at 4K 60 FPS on Xbox Series X, cross-play announced (update)

Updated June 9, 2020: Bungie confirmed that Destiny 2 will run at 4K resolution and 60 FPS on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. The game will also get cross-play sometime in 2021.

Destiny 2 is an incredibly popular first-person shooter and it looks stunning on Xbox One X. However, despite the fact that it runs at native 4K resolution, beating the PlayStation 4 Pro’s blurry image quality by miles, it still renders at 30 frames per second (FPS). However, it seems like that’s about to change when the next-generation machines roll out.

Today, Bungie confirmed that Destiny 2 would be upgraded for next-generation machines. Hopefully, this means that the title will render at 60 frames per second, or higher, on Xbox Series X since it has a 2-3 teraflops advantage over the PlayStation 5. However, only time will tell. We should expect better effects on Microsoft’s machine in my opinion, at least.

Bungie didn’t provide any other details, but we should know more soon. Hopefully, a concrete release date will be revealed closer to the console’s launch in Holiday 2020.
