Destiny 2 servers are down

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep went live at 1 p.m. EDT today, but the game isn’t providing players with a great launch experience. According to numerous reports, the game is booting gamers out on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It’s unclear what the status of the PC servers is.

When you launch Destiny 2, you’re stuck on a screen that says “ONE MOMENT PLEASE . . .” which is essentially a waiting line. However, soon afterward, you’re greeted by an error that says Destiny 2 servers are down. We were booted out of games on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, so we can verify the authenticity of these claims.

Bungie announced at around 2:15 p.m. PDT that it was taking Destiny 1 and 2 offline for “emergency maintenance.” At the time of this writing, the team is still working on it.

Hopefully, Bungie will figure out a solution because it’s quite frustrating for a lot of gamers. Even when you’re in a game, you constantly get messages that say you’ve been disconnected from the servers. We’ll keep you posted as soon as we know more. Until then, watch this space.
